Banff National Park Dragon Boat Festival

The second annual Banff National Park Dragon Boat Festival took place on August 15 and 16, 2009 and was a huge success. Team spirit was in full flight as Lake Minnewanka became a playground for 25 Dragon Boat Teams to battle it out for the ultimate prize. This day would not have been such a success without the volunteer superheroes who dedicated their spare time to help out. A total of about 40 volunteers from all over the Bow Valley and even from Calgary to help out. Check out the Real Banff story on YouTube for a glimpse of what happened on this fun filled weekend. One volunteer said  “Should be thanking you for hosting the event - I had the easy/fun job on Sunday.  If it weren't for you (and your team!) then we wouldn't have even had the festival.  I think this was probably the smoothest-run festival that I've ever attended and definitely the first to finish "on time". Count me in for next year.”
