There are many benefits in being a Board Member with the Banff Volunteer Centre (BVC) – there are currently opportunities for joining in either General Director and/or Executive positions – it is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who share the values of the BVC and are interested to share their skills, expertise and unique perspectives to contribute to community development. The BVC represents over 60 non-profit/voluntary sector organizations that help make Banff a great place to live, work and raise a family. Serving on the board of a community capacity builder like the Banff Volunteer Centre gives you a chance to represent each and every one of those organizations.
The Board of Directors supports the work of the BVC and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While the BVC’s Executive Director (ED) leads day-to-day operations, the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of Board Members is both critical and expected.
The BVC is undergoing a transformation and in future years will no doubt be see many new successes, challenges and accomplishments – we invite you to consider membership with the BVC Board of Directors and joining us on this journey.
Qualifications of Ideal Candidates|
- Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the non-profit sector
- A commitment to and understanding of the BVC’s vision, mission and values, along with familiarity with the BVC’s member organizations, preferably based on experience
- Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for enhancing volunteerism
