Shifts: each shift is a minimum of 4 hours, choose shift options of morning, midday, evening

Requirements: a minimum commitment of 2 volunteer shifts are required, volunteers will be trained and scheduled

What better way to celebrate the amazing people in our community than to have a concert with them AND for them!

On April 17th St. George’s in the Pines hosted Banff Volunteer Centre’s 3rd Community Coffee House event, and over 80 people from Banff, Canmore and beyond came out to celebrate the contributions of people in our communities. Sharing stories of their contributions to community 12 talented performers to the stage at historic St. George’s in the Pines on a Tuesday night, giving their time and talents to celebrate those who give their time and talents too!

The ambiance of St. George’s truly enhances the evening, in addition to that it is the incredible creative spirit that everyone comes willing to share. It is inspirational to hear the stories shared by the performers of the impact being involved in their community has made on them and of the impact they have had on their community. The Coffee House truly is a well rounded event, featuring such a  wide variety of music, spoken word, poetry and even local non-profits who came out to share the exciting projects they are working on here in Banff and Canmore.

Over 80 people came out to enjoy the tunes, talks and tasty treats!

The audience was incredible too -  from the young to the young-at-heart,  from Banff and from Canmore, from across the oceans and from the Alberta north – it’s great to know that the community of Banff is truly represented at the Coffee House, visitors and locals alike! Though the event is free to attend, but a suggested donation to the historic designation fund for St. George’s in the Pines is always encouraged. There is coffee and tea on hand, thanks to donations from our local Starbucks, and deserts and pastries from Nesters Market AND also from locals who contributed their own delicious baking!

SUMMER PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS

From pre-school young ones, to junior high school youth, and everything in-between, The Town of Banff Summer Programs see upwards of 100 local kids coming through our programs daily. Based out of the Banff Elementary School our leaders program nature hikes, art projects, special events, field trips, gym jams, and cook-off’s, and are ALWAYS looking for extra leadership hands.

SCHOOL-YEAR YOUTH LEADERSHIP VOLUNTEERS

Our afterschool and holiday break programs encourage local youth in grades 6-12 to take on a leadership role within programs. Assisting kids with homework, program projects, and social interactions, is a great way to gain valuable skills in the child care/camp leader industry.

SPECIAL EVENT VOLUNTEERS

Our Children and Youth Program Team plan and execute local events like Family Day, National Youth Week, and other holiday celebrations. We are always looking for event day volunteers to assist with recreational activities, bake sales, and craft projects.

A little more about the event:

The Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival Grand Tasting Hall offers the finest in local cuisine prepared by some of the top Banff and Lake Louise restaurants and hotels along with an extensive selection of unique wines, high quality ports, fine single-malt scotch, imported beer and premium spirits. Beginners, intermediates, and connoisseurs will have the rare opportunity to learn more about their favourites from industry experts in a casual and social atmosphere.

Volunteers MUST commit to working both April 1 & 2 from 6:30am – 3:30pm

Outdoor Hosts

There will not be any parking available at the Banff Centre, volunteers will be needed to direct traffic near the Banff Centre. Shuttle buses will be Transporting Eric Harvie Theatre audience participants to the taping, volunteers will host these guests at various locations in Banff.

Position Requirements:
Volunteer shifts are  April 1 & 2 from 6:30am – 12:00pm

This will be an outdoor role, please be prepared to dress for the weather!

Non Profits looking to work with youth AND youth seeking meaningful volunteer opportunities can now use Volunteer Canada’s new Building Blocks to Youth Volunteer Engagement to identify how to find great volunteering experiences!

Parents and teachers can use this tool learn how to identify the ways young adults can get involved and how they can support them in their search for volunteer opportunities.

Young adults and youth can use self-assessment tools to identify their skills and interests, and learn ways to apply their skills to volunteering.

These tools were designed in partnership with Manulife Financial, to address the barriers and opportunities to volunteer engagement outlined in the Bridging the Gap research report. There are also some really great tools and informative fact sheets to download here.

So, what exactly is the SCiP Internship program?

Non-profit organizations post meaningful projects to be managed, researched, implemented and summer job roles to be filled by skilled, knowledgeable and energetic university and college students.

When a project or role is completed successfully the student will receive a $1000 bursary.

Some Internships are in-person and some are virtual and are cropping up all over rural and urban communities.

The Canmore Winter Carnival is a celebration of the season and a popular community event in Canmore. This year, the Town of Canmore has partnered with the Best of Canmore, Canmore Downtown Business Association and the Canmore Nordic Centre to expand this exciting community event and to welcome participants of the 2012 International Biathlon Union Cup races being held at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

Game on!  Pull out your stick and get ready for the ball drop in Banff. Every Canadian loves street hockey so what could be better then playing it on Canada’s most famous main street. This February 11 & 12, come on out and show winter who’s boss and help bring this tournament to life!

Currently SnowDays is on the hunt for the keen sportsmen and women of Banff to volunteer.  Experience is not necessary, but a basic understanding of the great Canadian game of hockey will help!

Volunteer for Friday the 10th, Saturday the 11th or Sunday the 12th for the following positions:
