![]() With over 1900 students registered for the SCiP program searching through hundreds of available internships, how do you increase the number of applications your internship posting? You might be surprised with how simple it is. Here are our top 5 ways to make your internships stand out! 1.Link the internship to the mission of your organization. Not only will your internship be more attractive to potential interns, the work of the intern will more greatly benefit your organizations than a position based on busywork. 2.Ask for certain programs or course work relating to your internship, instead of asking for experiences like you would in a job posting. Speaking the student’s language of “coursework” instead of business orientated language will help students see themselves in your position, encouraging them to apply. 3.Make realistic and actionable deliverables. Deliverables should be easy to evaluate, ex. 15 presentations. Better yet, involve students not only in implementation, but also the planning and evaluation of a project. 4.The best time commitment is no time commitment. Timeline based projects allow space for the intern to do the necessary amount of work, without watching the clock. Remember these internships are part-time and do not replace a student’s school or employment commitments. 5.Use plain English – avoid the use of jargon, acronyms or sector language. Making your posting accessible to students will make it more attractive. |
