Our Future |
The Banff Volunteer Centre’s scope is expanding. Being able to provide programs and services to non-profit/voluntary organizations in the 21st century requires a new way of thinking. It is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for the Banff Volunteer Centre to make a difference to organizations and people in the community
The Banff Volunteer Centre will be on the forefront of new trends identified in the voluntary sector. Current trends indicate demographic shifts in volunteering (both generational and cultural); most significantly technological advances are having a remarkable effect on volunteering, with the integration of vast new technologies, social networks for connecting all leading the way to further opportunities to engage across the private, public and non-profit/voluntary sectors.
Leveraging existing and new resources, developing innovative strategies to support organizations and engage the community as a whole will allow the Banff Volunteer Centre to explore new methods to enhance volunteerism.
Through sustainable organizational development, strategic marketing and positioning, relationship building and a strong focus on core functions and services, the Banff Volunteer Centre is poised for the future: a future that sees an enhanced quality of life through active engaged communities, fulfilling their organizational missions in Banff and the Bow Valley.
Our History |
The Banff Volunteer Association (now the Banff Volunteer Centre) was launched in November 1997 and incorporated as a not-for-profit society in March 1998; growing out of recognition that volunteering is an important component in community life.
For the past thirteen years the Banff Volunteer Centre (BVC) has been promoting volunteerism through the local media, the website, volunteer recognition events and also through postings in highly visible display windows in Banff. The Banff Volunteer centre has successfully built capacity for effective volunteering in Banff and the Bow valley through training programs offered to volunteers and volunteer managers.
